Royal Shakespeare Company's televised adaptation of Moliere's play with Antony Sher in the title role of Tartuffe.

The Imposter deals with the lifestyle and subsequent breakdown of a Christian rock singer. Kevin Max stars as Johnny C, a talented singer who is addicted to oxycodone. After his wife and child leave him, Johnny is fired from the band by leader James, played by Jeff Deyo. Johnny tries to make it on his own but gets swindled by a sleazy record producer and beat up by his drug suppliers. Finally out of options, Johnny travels home to see if his family will take him back.

A beachfront hotel sparks family conflict when Helen won't sell, despite her children's wishes. The arrival of Amanda, claiming to be Helen's long-lost daughter, adds complexity. As the hotel's fate hangs, deception leads to murder.

Prince Ludwig, of Gravania, is very wild and indulges himself in many dissipations which reflect no credit on the good name of the reigning family.

Orgon and his mother swear by Tartuffe, the self-styled devout who lives off them. The other members of the family, scandalized by the clergyman's hold over them, will do anything to expose his hypocrisy. Michel Bouquet plays an almost monstrous Tartuffe, whose only weakness lies in his feelings for Elmire.

Donald Moffat stars in Moliere's classic comedy about lovable scoundrel Tartuffe, who befriends the wealthy Orgon and then attempts to seduce both his new friend's wife and daughter in this TV presentation from the Broadway Theatre Archive. Tartuffe pretends to be a pious man whose faith convinces Orgon and his family to succumb to his influence, but he's undone when his womanizing ways make it clear that his piety is a charade.

Tartuffe is a cheeky cheater and traitor who succeeds in fooling and terrorizing Orgon and his family.
